These beans have a taste you cannot get from canned baked beans.

1-pound dry great Northern beans
8 cups water
4 ounces salt pork, diced.
1 medium yellow onion, chopped.
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed.
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.

In a large saucepan, bring beans and water to a boil. Cook for 2 hours. Place pan with beans and water, covered, into the refrigerator overnight. The next day, pour beans and 1 1/2 cups of their liquid into the slow cooker. Add in salt pork, molasses, brown sugar, dry mustard, and black pepper. Cover and cook on low for 12-14 hours.
