Karim Benzema will leave Real Madrid this summer, ending a remarkable 14-year tenure in the Spanish capital.

“Real Madrid C.F. and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable stage as a player for our club. Real Madrid wants to show its gratitude and all its affection for who is already one of our greatest legends” according to the club’s official statement.

Meaning that he will wear the legendary white jersey for the final time during today’s game (Sunday, June 4) against Athletic Bilbao.

His 25 titles which were won during the course of the fourteen years in the club, a milestone for Real Madrid, includes five European Cups, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, four leagues, three Copas del Rey, and four Spanish Super Cups.

A formal tribute and farewell to Karim Benzema will be held at Real Madrid City on Tuesday, June 6, at noon, in the presence of Florentino Pérez their president.

“The Madridistas and all the fans around the world have enjoyed his magical and unique football, which has made him one of the great myths of our club and one of the great legends of world football . Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and he wishes him and all his family the best in this new phase of his life.” the club added.
