On May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci accomplished a fantastic milestone by breaking the previous Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time, which had been held by Chef Lata Tondon from Rewa, India in 2019.
She set a new world record for the longest period of time spent cooking when she not only beat Tondon’s previous mark of 87 hours and 45 minutes, but also went on to cook for an incredible 100 hours and 40 minutes.

Although Hilda Baci has not yet received official confirmation from Guinness World Records as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon, her accomplishment has already become a reference point in the food service industry, motivating other chefs to either beat her record or take up the challenge.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, another Nigerian chef by the name Chef Damilola Adeparusi started another Cook-A-thon to surpass Chef Hilda Baci’s unofficial 100-hour record in the Guinness World Records category for longest cooking with a target of 120hours.
Currently she has spent 36 hours in the kitchen per the monitoring clock and people are rooting for her with the progress made so far yet some Nigerians have criticized her for being envious, claiming that she ought to have waited until Hilda’s record had been confirmed by Guinness World Records.
