Following Arsenal’s defeat at Nottingham Forest, Manchester City has clinched the title of Premier League champion for the third consecutive year.

After being defeated 1-0 on Saturday, Arsenal, who had been in first place for the bulk of the season, are now four points behind City with just one game remaining.

Five of the last six seasons have ended with a championship for Pep Guardiola’s team. With the FA Cup and Champions League finals coming up next month, they also have the potential for winning the Triple Crown.

The only other team to accomplish this record was Manchester United in 1998–1999, and City will face their rival opponents on June 3 at Wembley before taking on Inter Milan a week later in Istanbul, where they will attempt to win their first Champions League competition.

Following their Sunday match against Chelsea, City will raise the trophy

‘The Premier League is undoubtedly the most rigorous and difficult league in the world, so that tells you everything about what an accomplishment this is,’ according to captain Ilkay Gundogan, who has scored four goals in the past two league games.

‘It’s fantastic that we’ve taken home this trophy five times in six years and three times in a row. The club’s future success is assured by this caliber and consistency, which helps define what Manchester City stands for. This has been a season I will always remember’, he added.
